When will RD1155/2024 enter into force?

Royal Decree 1155/2024, of 19 November, in which is approved the Regulation for Organic Law 4/2000, of 11 January, on the rights and liberties of foreigners in Spain and their social integration, repealing and replacing the previous regulation in Royal Decree 557/2011, was published in the Official Bulletin of the State (Boletín Oficial del Estado) on 20 November 2024.

The fourth final disposition of RD 1155/2024 says: "The present Royal Decree and the Regulation thereby approved shall enter into force upon 6 months from its publication in the 'Official Bulletin of the State.'"

Consequently, Royal Decree 1155/2024, of 19 November, shall enter into force at 00:00 on 20 May 2025.

Until 23:59:59.99 on 19 May 2025, the previous immigration regulation, Royal Decree 557/2011, of 20 April, will remain in effect.
